McDonal & Kanyuk Attorneys at Law PLLC

Our Practice

Although there are many attorneys in New Hampshire who provide “basic” estate planning services involving garden variety wills and trusts, straightforward deathtime property dispositions and modest estate tax reduction, McDonald & Kanyuk, PLLC is one of the few “boutique” law firms in New England offering sophisticated estate and tax planning.

Joe McDonald and Amy Kanyuk founded McDonald & Kanyuk, PLLC in July, 1998 with the objective of building a law firm that would allow us to integrate each client’s priorities into an estate plan that achieves the client’s individual and family objectives while minimizing state and federal taxes.  We  recognize that clients are faced with sensitive and complex issues when developing their estate plans, and help clients understand which estate planning tools may be available to them, and which may be most appropriate for their needs and objectives.  We guide clients through the design, implementation and maintenance of estate plans that integrate their priorities, reflect their values and provide peace of mind.

We also advise fiduciaries and beneficiaries in connection with the administration of trusts and estates.  We administer trusts and estates efficiently and cost-effectively and are frequently able to devise creative post-mortem tax planning strategies to reduce gift, estate, generation-skipping and income taxes.  We have successfully represented estates and individuals in audits of estate and gift tax returns at both the examination and appellate levels.

We strive to blend state of the art technical expertise, know-how and sophisticated technology with liberal doses of common sense and empathy - the personal, human touch that many clients find lacking in their interactions with professionals.  We thoroughly enjoy our work and our clients.  Our objective is to distinguish ourselves from the “trust mills” by becoming trusted advisors to clients who prefer a careful, deliberate approach over one that increasingly seeks to commoditize these highly personal services.
